In this basement, the homeowner was getting water in through the wall cracks, and one wall was beginning to bow due to outside pressure from soil and water. To stabilize the bowing wall, we installed our PowerBrace foundation wall repair system, which is designed to straighten the walls over time and save the integrity of the foundation. This system is conducted with steel beams that get secured under the rim joist and are stabilized with steel brackets, which will make it easy to adjust over time to its original place.
For this basement repair, we had to install 2 PowerBraces. PowerBraces were needed due to the fact that one part of the foundation wall was bowing inward and we needed to stop that forward movement.
This customer had a slight bow in their block foundation, which caused a horizontal crack to develop. We sent our inspector out to the property and the best solution for this customer scenario was to install our Carbon Armor straps with Armor Locks.
The Carbon Armor Wall Stabilization system works by fusing our Carbon Armor Straps to ArmorLock strips that are anchored to heavy steel brackets that are attached to the rim joist. This system will immediately stabilize your foundation wall and stop any further inward movement.

Cinder block walls often fail due to the weight of the soil, the weight of the water in the soil, and the pressure created by clay expansion when it gets wet. The result is that the walls bow inward and will eventually collapse unless repaired.
The GeoLock Wall Anchor System is the best solution for bowed walls. This dead-man anchoring system is capable of reversing the pressure and stabilizing the wall. The GeoLock System has three main parts: a 9-foot threaded galvanized rod that extends out to the exterior ground anchor - a galvanized steel plus-sign-shaped plate that gets embedded in stable soil, away from the foundation of your house. The other end of the threaded rod goes through two steel channel anchor plates - one plate is attached on the exterior side of the wall, the other, in the exact location on the interior (basement) side of the wall. There is a bolt attached to the end of the rod that enters your basement. When that bolt is tightened, it creates reverse pressure and holds the wall securely in its current position. However, when the soil outside is very dry, the bolt can be tightened more to straighten the wall, and over time, the wall may straighten to its original position. Very cool indeed! This home in Elkton needed 10 anchors to repair the wall.
