Lifting a Sunken Sidewalk in Allentown, PA
Challenge
A homeowner in Allentown, PA reached out with concerns about her L-shaped sidewalk. While some slabs appeared level, others had clearly settled, leaving uneven transitions and cracks. The homeowner wasn’t sure how severe the issue was but wanted a permanent solution before it worsened. Uneven sidewalks pose tripping hazards, especially for children and visitors, and cracks allow water to seep underneath, washing away soil and creating larger voids.
Solution
After a full inspection, our team confirmed that several slabs had settled due to soil washout and voids beneath the concrete. To restore the sidewalk, we injected PolyLevel expanding foam beneath the affected slabs. This quick-install system fills voids, compresses weak soil, and gently lifts slabs back into place without the mess of traditional mudjacking. Once the slabs were level, we sealed all cracks and joints with NexusPro, a durable silicone-based sealant designed to remain flexible through seasonal freeze-thaw cycles. This step prevents water infiltration and protects the sidewalk from future settlement.
By combining PolyLevel and NexusPro, the homeowner’s L-shaped sidewalk is now even, safe, and fully protected.
