Foundation Repair Photo Album: Foundation Repair in South River, NJ
This homeowner in South River, New Jersey noticed their floors were sagging. This can be caused by the columns in the basement being spaced too far apart. If the columns are spaced too far apart, the beam could become overloaded and begin to sag. If gone unrepaired, this could become costly in the future. The homeowner called Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Javier Romero provided an inspection and suggested they install steel support beams. Our foreman, Mario Barron, installed the SmartJack System which will permanently stabilize the floor joists. This is done by removing the soil where the beams will be placed. Then, the hole is filled with engineered fill to create a stable footing. Once these beams are installed, the floors will be lifted towards a level position permanently.
Weak Floor Joists
These floor joists in this photo have become weak from the moisture and humidity, so they can no longer support the weight of the home.
Process of Installing SmartJacks
To install the SmartJack system, the soil must be removed to create a stable footing where the beams will be placed. This hole is then filled in with engineered fill.
SmartJack Installation Process
The SmartJack System is positioned on top of the load-bearing base to hole the weight of the home.
SmartJack Installed
With the SmartJack System installed, the floors are lifted to the original position. This system will also reduce floor bounce and will solve the problem permanently.
