Foundation Repair Photo Album: Major Foundation Settlement Repair in Sussex, NJ
A homeowner in Sussex, New Jersey noticed their foundation was settling forming cracks on the interior and exterior of the foundation. The main cause of foundation settlement is from periods of drought and heavy rainfall. During droughts, the soil dries out and shrinks. The soil around the home shrinks in size and creates an empty space for the home to settle into. During heavy rainfall, the soil gets wet and holds onto the water, and becomes soft. This soft soil becomes weak and causes the home to sink.
System Design Specialist, Javier Romero, provided a free inspection recommended a permanent solution . He suggested our PushPier Foundation System to stabilize the foundation. Our foreman, Jonathan Neira installed the Steel Push Piers to lift the home back toward level. The soil is removed from around the foundation footing, where the piers will be installed. These push piers are hydraulically driven through a bracket to the stable soil. Then, the weight of the home is transferred from the concrete foundation through the steel bracket piers. After this, a lift is attempted and the home is brought back to stabilization. Once this process is done, the soil is backfilled and the system is kept out of eye view.
