Foundation Repair Photo Album: Foundation Repair in Englishtown, NJ
A homeowner in Englishtown, New Jersey noticed their home's foundation was settling. Signs of foundation settlement include wall cracks, sagging floors, and even wall failure. Foundation settlement occurs after a home is built, the surrounding soil changes. Extreme moisture changes, such as drought conditions or oversaturation, creates soil movement. This movement shifts and settles the home, which causes cracked walls, uneven floors, and sinking foundation.
The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Jay Alvarez, was able to provide an inspection and help them with this issue. He suggested they install a steel pier system that will permanently lift the home to its original position. Our foreman, Jonathan Neira, installed the Push Pier System under the home which lifts the home back to level. This is done by digging a hole below the home where the piers will go. Then, rugged steel tube sections being hydraulically driven through steel foundation brackets to reach the stable soil. The weight of the home is then transferred from the original unstable soils, through the piers, and to the stable soil. These piers do not require use of heavy equipment and are below grade solution, so they are concealed from eye view.
