Foundation Repair Photo Album: Foundation Issues in Hillsborough, NJ Damp Basement
A homeowner in Hillsborough, New Jersey was having water in their partially finished basement and contacted Quality 1st. In addition to water in the basement, there was a bowing wall with a crack. Our System Design Specialist inspected the basement and recommended it be waterproofed as well as something to fix the bowing, cracked wall.
WaterGuard was installed along the perimeter of the basement, under the floor slab, on top of the foundation footing to keep the system out of the mud zone to prevent clogging. This system is installed easily and directs the water to the sump pump to be pumped out of the basement. To fix the bowing cracked wall, CarbonArmor wall reinforcing system was installed on the wall. CarbonArmor are strips made from a fiber reinforced polymer that is 10 times stronger than steel and is specifically designed for this purpose. The straps are attached to the wall and secured with heavy duty steel brackets. The straps will stabilize the wall and begin to pull it back to its original position. This system is easy to install, no exterior excavation, and will not impact future basement finishing.
