Foundation Repair Photo Album: Staircase Project Required Stabilzation in Chester Springs, PA
This customer wanted to open up the left wall coming down the stairs and install a mahogany open stair rail. Unfortunately, the wall was bearing, so we had to install two SmartJacks and a steel beam to carry the floor joists above.
SmartJacks are far superior then regular columns because they are galvanized, preventing them from ever rusting. They also carry twice the load and include a 25-year warranty.
The stairs really look great now that they are open, and the customer is now ready to finish the basement.

This picture shows how we installed two SmartJacks on either side of the staircase to hold up the joists above. This allowed us to remove the wall and open up the stairs.
