A resident in Holmdel, New Jersey was experiencing water coming in through the windows. This can happen because of loose soil that was used to fill the hole around the foundation. Overtime, this soil settles and during heavy rainfall, it becomes saturated. This saturated soil puts hydrostatic pressure on the home, causing leaks through the wall. The homeowner was looking to seal their basement and also install a sump pump. They contacted Quality 1st Basement System and our System Design Specialist, Joe Mancini, helped them with a solution. He suggested to encapsulate their home, install a new sump pump, as well as add a French drain system. Our foreman, Mario Barron, installed the WaterGuard Drainage System. This system is installed under the slab and it sits on top of the foundation footing. WaterGuard removes water by directing it to drain into the sump pump system. Next, the foreman installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump System which has three pumps and a closed airtight lid to prevent moisture from getting into the basement. This sump pump drains out water and has a backup battery in case of power outages. Next, the foreman installed the CleanSpace Vapor Barrier System which is thick like a pool liner and is installed along the basement wall. This gives the basement a bright and clean appearance, while keeping moisture out. The foreman also installed the SaniDry Dehumidifier which circulates the air in the basement in order to keep it dry. The dehumidifier can be tucked in the corner right next to the sump pump system. Then, the foreman installed the TrenchLock Drain around the water heater in order to catch and prevent leaking into the basement. Lastly, the foreman installed the IceGuard Sump Pump Discharge System. This will allow water to escape if the pipes freeze in the winter, or become blocked for any reason. The openings in the IceGuard allow water to escape through and provide an exit. Now, the homeowner does not have to worry about water getting into their basement.
