Crawl Space Transformation in Newfoundland, NJ
Challenge
In Newfoundland, a homeowner became increasingly concerned about the condition of their crawl space after noticing signs of settlement and structural instability beneath the home. The crawl space floor slab, identified as a structural floating slab, had begun settling over time, while cracks had also developed along sections of the foundation walls. In addition to the visible cracking and settlement, the home’s main beam required additional structural support. Moisture and humidity within the crawl space environment were also contributing factors, creating conditions that could continue impacting the area long-term if left unaddressed. The homeowner wanted a complete solution that would improve moisture control, insulation, and structural stability throughout the crawl space.
Solution
After thoroughly evaluating the crawl space, our team designed a comprehensive encapsulation and support system tailored to the home’s needs. To isolate the crawl space from moisture and outside humidity, we installed the CleanSpace vapor barrier system throughout the area. This durable liner helps create a clean and controlled environment beneath the home while protecting against ground moisture intrusion. Next, SilverGlo insulation panels were installed along the crawl space walls to improve energy efficiency and help regulate temperatures within the space. To address the structural concerns beneath the home, SmartJacks were installed beneath the main beam. These adjustable steel supports help stabilize weakened floor systems and provide long-term reinforcement where additional support is needed. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to help control humidity levels and improve air quality within the crawl space. Maintaining proper humidity levels is essential for protecting the space from future moisture-related issues.
