Transforming a Damp Crawl Space in Woodstown, NJ
Challenge
In Woodstown, a homeowner managing a rental property contacted us after ongoing concerns about the crawl space began affecting tenant comfort. The space had a dirt floor, visible dampness, and sections of insulation that had fallen from the ceiling. Moisture was creating an unhealthy environment below the home, contributing to cold floors above and raising concerns about mold, odors, and long-term structural deterioration. For a rental property, reliability and durability were key. The homeowner needed a solution that would protect the investment while creating a healthier living environment for tenants.
Our System Design Specialist conducted a detailed inspection of the crawl space and identified the primary issue: exposed earth allowing constant ground moisture to rise into the space, combined with ineffective, failing insulation. The damp conditions were not only causing the insulation to deteriorate but were also creating an environment where mildew and odors could thrive. A customized plan was developed to permanently control moisture while improving energy efficiency.
Solution
Our production team began the transformation by installing our CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation system. This heavy-duty 20-mil liner was carefully secured across the crawl space floor and extended up the foundation walls, creating a continuous moisture barrier. By sealing off the exposed dirt floor, CleanSpace prevents ground vapor from entering the space and dramatically reduces humidity levels. Its bright white finish also gives the crawl space a clean, finished appearance, a stark contrast to the dark, damp conditions that existed before. To further protect and insulate the area, we installed SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation panels along the foundation walls. SilverGlo provides an R-11 insulation rating and features a built-in vapor barrier, making it ideal for crawl space environments. Unlike traditional fiberglass insulation that absorbs moisture and falls apart over time, SilverGlo resists water intrusion and helps redirect any minor wall seepage down and away from vulnerable materials. This upgrade not only improves temperature regulation throughout the home but also enhances long-term moisture control.
