Complete Crawl Space Encapsulation in Old Bridge, NJ
Challenge
In Old Bridge, a homeowner reached out to us after growing increasingly concerned about their damp, musty crawl space. The unpleasant odor was beginning to affect the living areas above, and visible moisture raised red flags about potential mold growth and structural damage. On top of resolving the moisture issue, the homeowner also wanted to improve insulation and overall energy efficiency. They wanted a comprehensive, long-term solution that would protect their home and improve comfort year-round, not just a temporary fix.
After contacting our office, one of our Customer Care Specialists quickly scheduled a detailed inspection. During the visit, our System Design Specialist performed a full evaluation of the crawl space and identified the primary issue: a dirt floor allowing ground moisture to evaporate freely into the space. Combined with water intrusion, this created persistent dampness and a musty smell. The environment was not only unhealthy but also inefficient, allowing cold air and humidity to infiltrate the home above.
Solution
To address water intrusion at its source, our production team installed our SmartPipe drainage system along the crawl space perimeter. This system was designed to capture groundwater seepage and direct it safely away before it could accumulate. The collected water was then funneled to a newly installed SuperSump pump system. The SuperSump is engineered for reliable, high-volume water removal. Together, these systems created a strong first line of defense against water intrusion.
With water management in place, we shifted focus to moisture control and energy performance. We installed SilverGlo Wall Insulation panels along the crawl space walls. SilverGlo not only improves thermal performance but also resists moisture absorption, making it ideal for below-grade environments. To fully encapsulate the area, we applied the CleanSpace vapor barrier system: a durable, multi-layer liner that seals the crawl space floor and walls. This encapsulation system locks out ground moisture, prevents mold-friendly conditions, and creates a bright, clean appearance that looks completely different from the original dirt-floor space.
Finally, to ensure the environment remained dry long-term, we installed the SaniDry Sedona dehumidification system. This high-performance unit continuously removes excess moisture from the air, helping eliminate odors and significantly improving indoor air quality. By controlling humidity levels, the system also helps protect structural components and insulation from long-term damage.
