Encapsulating a Damp Crawl Space in Morganville, NJ
Challenge
In Morganville, NJ, a homeowner contacted us at Quality 1st looking to improve the overall condition of their crawl space and ensure their existing sump pump system was functioning properly. Although a sump pump had already been installed, the homeowner was concerned about long-term moisture control and wanted the system professionally inspected and cleaned. They were also interested in creating a healthier, more efficient environment beneath their home, as crawl space moisture can easily affect indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and even structural integrity.
During the initial free estimate appointment, our specialist found elevated humidity levels throughout the crawl space, along with signs of ongoing moisture exposure along the ground and foundation walls. While the sump pump was operational, it was not ideally configured for crawl space conditions and lacked proper drainage efficiency. In high-moisture environments like this, even a working sump can struggle if the surrounding space is not sealed and properly managed.
Solution
To address the problem comprehensively, our team designed a full crawl space moisture control system, starting with drainage improvements. The existing sump was inspected and replaced with a dedicated crawl space sump drain system, allowing water to be collected and discharged more efficiently before it could accumulate or spread beneath the home. Next, we installed CleanSpace, our heavy-duty crawl space encapsulation system, across the floor and foundation walls. This created a sealed barrier between the earth and the home, preventing ground moisture from evaporating into the air and drastically reducing humidity levels. CleanSpace also helps block outside air infiltration, pests, and odors, instantly transforming the crawl space into a clean, controlled environment. To improve insulation and energy performance, SilverGlo insulation panels were installed along the crawl space walls. SilverGlo not only provides superior thermal resistance but also reflects heat back into the space, helping maintain consistent temperatures year-round and reducing energy loss through the foundation. Finally, to actively control remaining moisture and maintain optimal air quality, we installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. This high-performance unit continuously removes excess humidity from the crawl space, preventing mold growth, wood rot, and musty odors from affecting the home above.
With the combination of improved drainage, full encapsulation, wall insulation, and professional-grade dehumidification, the crawl space in Morganville, NJ is now a dry, clean, energy-efficient, and properly protected environment. The homeowner now has complete peace of mind knowing their sump system is functioning correctly and their home is safeguarded from long-term moisture damage, poor air quality, and rising energy costs.
