Encapsulating a Damp Crawl Space in Ventnor City, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in Ventnor City, NJ reached out to us with growing concerns about their crawl space. The property had a concrete foundation, but despite this solid exterior, the crawl space beneath the home was experiencing multiple issues. The homeowner noticed that the floors inside the home felt less stable, suggesting structural support problems. At the same time, the crawl space itself had visible signs of moisture and humidity. Left unchecked, these conditions could have led to wood rot, mold growth, sagging floors, and even compromised the overall safety and value of the home.
Like many crawl spaces in coastal areas of New Jersey, this one was particularly vulnerable to dampness and temperature fluctuations. The homeowner knew that if they didn’t take proactive steps, the problems would worsen and become more costly down the road. Their goal was to strengthen the structure while also transforming the crawl space into a dry, clean, and healthy environment.
Solution
Our team performed a full inspection of the crawl space and recommended a comprehensive solution to address both the structural concerns and the moisture issues.
First, to stabilize the floors above, we installed SmartJacks, our adjustable steel crawl space supports designed to lift and level sagging beams and joists. This immediately restored strength and stability to the home’s foundation.
Next, we encapsulated the crawl space using our CleanSpace Vapor Barrier System. This durable, reinforced liner was fitted across the dirt and concrete surfaces to block out moisture, humidity, and potential mold growth. To improve insulation and help regulate temperatures, we also installed SilverGlo insulation panels along the crawl space walls. SilverGlo’s reflective properties not only provide excellent thermal resistance but also help brighten the space.
Finally, to tackle the persistent humidity, we installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. This high-performance system continuously keeps humidity levels under control, ensuring that the crawl space stays dry, healthy, and protected year-round.
By combining structural reinforcement with complete moisture protection, we were able to provide the homeowner with lasting peace of mind. The crawl space is now dry, insulated, and supported, helping to protect the home above from future damage and ensuring a healthier living environment.
