Window Well Installation and Sidewalk Repair in Edison, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in Edison, NJ was dealing with a severely settled concrete walkway that had dropped approximately one to two inches. The settlement created an uneven walking surface and also affected how water moved around the home, with water being directed toward the foundation. Rather than simply leaving the existing slabs in place and attempting a minor repair, the condition of the walkway called for a complete replacement. The homeowner also wanted a solution for the area around one of the home's basement windows, creating an opportunity to address both concerns while the concrete walkway was being rebuilt.
Solution
Our team at Quality 1st Basement Systems completely broke up and removed the existing concrete walkway, clearing the area of the old, settled slabs. With the original walkway removed, the team installed a SunHouse window well system for the homeowner before moving forward with the new concrete. The SunHouse provided a finished, functional solution around the basement window while the surrounding walkway area was being reconstructed. Once that work was completed, the entire sidewalk and walkway were replaced with brand-new concrete. Instead of continuing to work around the severely settled slabs, the homeowner now has a completely new walkway in place. The finished project gives the property a fresh, updated concrete surface while addressing the previous walkway settlement and the drainage concern near the foundation.
