A homeowner in Brooklyn, New York was looking to install a sump pump in their basement. They reported having moisture coming in through the walls as well. Water and moisture can get into the basement because of loose and poorly compacted soil surrounding the foundation. During periods of heavy rainfall, the soil becomes saturated and creates hydrostatic pressure. This pressure pushes water through the basement walls and floors.
The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, JC Gibriano, provided an inspection of the home and helped them with a plan. He suggested they install a new sump pump system, as well as a French drain system. Our foreman, Jonathan Neira, installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump which has three sump pumps in one sump liner. The sump pump effectively pumps out water and the third pump is a battery operated pump that kicks in if the power goes out. The sump pump also has an airtight enclosed lid to keep moisture out of the basement. The foreman also installed the WaterGuard Drain System which sits on top of the footing instead of alongside it. This is vital because it keeps the wet dirt from getting into the drain because the drain doesn't sit in the mud. WaterGuard will catch any water and drain it to the sump pump system.
