Total Basement Finishing Project in Holmdel, NJ
Challenge
The basement in this Holmdel, NJ home was essentially a blank slate. The space had unfinished block walls, unfinished floors, and insulation exposed between the ceiling joists. While the basement had plenty of potential, it was not yet a comfortable or finished area that could be used as an extension of the home. The homeowners wanted to create a more functional space that included an open living area and a new bathroom. During the evaluation, our team also noticed an area where a leak had occurred, adding moisture management to the list of considerations for the project. Rather than simply covering the existing unfinished surfaces, the goal was to create a complete basement environment that looked finished while also addressing the conditions that can make below-grade spaces uncomfortable.
Solution
Our team completed a comprehensive Total Basement Finishing transformation designed around the homeowners' goals for the space. The unfinished block walls were finished with the EverLast Wall System, creating a clean and durable finished wall surface. We installed a new ceiling and updated lighting to give the basement a more complete, comfortable feel while concealing the previously exposed ceiling area. ThermalDry Elite Plank Flooring was installed throughout the finished space, providing the appearance of traditional finished flooring while being specifically suited to basement environments. We also installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to help manage humidity and maintain a more comfortable basement environment. A new bathroom was added to increase the functionality of the space, while the remaining area was finished as an open, versatile living space. By combining the Total Basement Finishing system with moisture control and a thoughtful layout, Quality 1st was able to turn the previously unfinished Holmdel basement into a finished space that the homeowners can use and enjoy.
