A homeowner in Cresskill, New Jersey was looking to finish their unfinished basement. However, there were signs of water damage on the floor and it often flooded during heavy rains. Before finishing their basement, the homeowners wanted to waterproof their basement so that they could be worry free during heavy rains. After calling Quality 1st Basement Systems for an estimate, inspector Ken Peare went out and looked at the property. He determined that the best solution for the basement was a water drainage system, a sump pump, wall paneling, and flooring. The WaterGuard drainage system redirects water from between the floor and wall and to a sump pump. WaterGuard is a patented drain design that will not clog with dirt. Quality 1st Basement Systems foreman Wilver Cardoza installed a TripleSafe sump pump, which is the best sump pump on the market for homeowners. The TripleSafe sump pump has three pumps and a battery back up system. If the electricity goes out during a storm, the back up pump turns on and continues to pump water out of the house. An IceGuard anti-freeze system was installed on the sump pump line, which will prevent water from freezing and clogging the drainage line during winter months. This will keep the basement safe during cold New Jersey winters. A SaniDry dehumidifier will now keep the humidity levels down, filter out dust mite droppings from the air and is energy efficient. BrightWall paneling systems was installed on the walls. BrightWall transforms bare masonry walls to bright white, attractive, waterproof walls. MillCreek flooring looks like wood, but it is made out of inorganic, durable plastic panels that will never grow mildew or mold. Real wood is not recommended for basements, because wood rots in humid enviornments. MillCreek gives the beautiful look of wood without the worry. Now this basement looks amazing and is waterproof!
