Photo Album: Moldy Finished Basement Saved with EverLast Wall Restoration in Atlantic Highlands, NJ
An Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey family used their basement for storage. They kept family photos, books, and historical memorabilia downstairs. However, their basement had water penetration and was growing black mold. Afraid that their storage would be damaged, they called Quality 1st Basement Systems to help save their basement.
Inspector Kenny Tramutola suggested that the basement needed several products to best waterproof the room, get rid of the mold, and prevent further mold growth. Mold is a common allergen and if there is mold in the basement, the air drifts up to the rest of the living space and affects the air quality and the family's health. It was important for the moldy walls to be torn out and replaced with EverLast wall restoration. EverLast is made out of inorganic material. Unlike wood, it will never grow mold or mildew and will not rot. EverLast is vinyl faced cement which is easily wiped down and cleaned. Its neutral color goes with any basement and gives a fresh face lift. In order to waterproof the room, a WaterGuard drainage system was installed. WaterGuard gathers water from between the floor and wall and redirects it to a sump pump, where it can be safely deposited outside the house. WaterGuard is perfect for finished basements because it is covered with a layer of concrete, making it blend into the flooring. To pump out the water, a SuperSump sump pump was installed. The SuperSump sump pump has an airtight lid so it will not clog with debris and pumps out water quietly. It looks much more attractive than an open sump pit!
Now this basement is waterproof, and all the unhealthy mold has been removed. The homeowners can continue to store their photos and belongings with confidence, knowing that their basement will not grow any more mold.
