Keeping a basement dry is essential for protecting your home’s foundation, finishes, and indoor air quality. Recently, we tackled a partially finished basement in Wilmington, DE, where water was seeping through block walls. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how we solved the problem, step by step.
Step 1: Assess the Problem
Before starting any work, one of our System Design Specialists inspected the basement to identify where water was entering. Damp spots along the walls indicated seepage through the block, and areas of pooled water showed the need for perimeter drainage. Understanding the specific problem allowed us to design a waterproofing system tailored to this home. Our Specialist then created a custom system that would best suit this specific basement's needs.

Step 2: Line Walls with CleanSpace
Water was seeping through the block walls, so we applied CleanSpace, a heavy-duty vapor barrier that lines the walls. CleanSpace blocks moisture, prevents mold growth, and gives the basement a clean, finished appearance. Lining the walls also improves air quality and reduces odors.

Step 3: Install WaterGuard Drainage System
Next, we installed WaterGuard, an interior drainage system that lines the perimeter of the basement floor. This system captures water as it enters and channels it safely to the sump area. WaterGuard is essential for controlling groundwater before it reaches finished areas of the basement.

Step 4: Add TripleSafe Sump Pump Protection
To remove the water captured by WaterGuard, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump system. This system features three layers of protection: a primary pump, a secondary high-capacity pump, and a battery backup. Even during storms or power outages, the TripleSafe ensures that water is pumped out efficiently, keeping the basement dry.

Step 5: Final Inspection and Homeowner Walkthrough
Once the system was fully installed, our team tested the WaterGuard and TripleSafe to ensure everything was working as designed. We walked the homeowners through the system so they understood how it functions and how it will protect their basement long-term.

After completing the project, the basement is now fully protected against water intrusion. The homeowners can enjoy their partially finished space without worry of dampness, flooding, or mold.
