Your sidewalks are important...and dangerous!

Your sidewalks are importantand dangerous - Image 1Normally when you are walking down the sidewalk, laying by the pool, or in a business, store, or home, you will see cracks in concrete or sunken slabs. These can be a nuisance, but are often overlooked and ignored. Some of the problems caused by uneven concrete slabs are pooling and freezing of water, tripping hazards, lowered resale values, and let's be honest are a bit of an eyesore. What most people do not realize is that the more these issues are ignored, the bigger they become, and the more they will cost to get fixed. There is a simple hassle-free, cost effective way to deal with these issues that provides homeowners, business owners, and communities with a permanent solution.

PolyLEVEL is an amazing product which has proven to be a permanent solution to sinking and settling concrete. Concrete weighs a lot, on average about 150lbs per cubic foot. Below concrete you will find fill soils or crushed stone laying on fill soils, both of which are the base of the problem. When soils are poorly compacted, the weight of the concrete cannot be supported. Some other causes are erosion and the wetting and drying of the soils. Think of rice, when rice is dry it is smaller in size and weight than when it is boiled. This is because the rice absorbs the water and moisture holding it in like a sponge; the same happens to soil. The gaps below the slab and the air pockets created throughout the soil make the soil weak and an insufficient base for the concrete. PolyLEVEL can change this without having to go through the mess of breaking and replacing concrete slabs, which can be a pain depending on where the slabs are and very expensive. Also, if you replace the slabs they are going on the same soil and will inevitably sink again.

Your sidewalks are importantand dangerous - Image 2PolyLEVEL was created after mudjacking became an outdated, insufficient option to concrete leveling. Mudjacking requires a large hole to be drilled into the slab, and then a cement slurry or mud was pumped underneath the slab. This added weight to the slab the slurry can weigh upwards of another 120lbs per cubic foot; if the original concrete (at average 150lbs per cubic foot) sunk, even heavier mass will surely sink. The set time for the mudjacking process is several days, depending on weather. To not be able to walk or drive on an area for that amount of time can be a major inconvenience. Quality 1st Basement Systems introduced PolyLEVEL as a solution to these issues. PolyLEVEL took mudjacking to the next (poly)level! It's a method that uses high-density polymers, similar to a foam, that allows us to raise the slab back to level and only has a set time of 15 minutes! PolyLEVEL is injected under the slab through penny sized holes and fills the voids below the slab both in both interior and exterior slab applications. Compared to cement or mudjacking, PolyLEVEL only weighs 4 lbs per cubic foot ensuring that the material will cause no further settlement. The material itself is waterproof and environmentally friendly so it will never breakdown beneath the slab and can lift anywhere from 2,000 to 4,000 lbs per square foot. The process itself is non invasive and quick, allowing for immediate use of the slabs after installation.

Tripping hazards can be trouble, especially if it happens to someone other than yourself on your property. PolyLEVEL is a cost effective way to remove these issues – permanently.
