Lifting and Leveling a Concrete Pool Deck in Caldwell, NJ
Challenge
This homeowner’s pool area had become a concern due to significant concrete settlement and cracking throughout the surface. Over time, movement in the soil beneath the concrete caused sections of the pool deck to sink approximately 4 to 5 inches, creating a noticeable difference in elevation between areas of the slab. Poolside concrete requires special attention because uneven surfaces can impact both the appearance and safety of the area. Cracked and sunken concrete can create tripping hazards around a space where family and guests frequently walk barefoot. In addition to the safety concerns, the settlement took away from the overall look of the outdoor living area and left the homeowner searching for a reliable repair solution. The homeowner wanted to correct the uneven concrete while avoiding the disruption, expense, and lengthy process associated with completely removing the existing pool deck. They needed a solution that could restore the surface while preserving as much of the original concrete as possible.
Solution
To restore the settled pool deck, our team used a combination of PolyLevel and NexusPro to address both the concrete movement and the cracking throughout the area. PolyLevel was injected beneath the sunken concrete slabs to fill voids in the soil and carefully lift the settled sections back toward their original position. This advanced concrete lifting system allowed our team to restore the surface without the need to remove and replace the existing pool deck. After the concrete was lifted and leveled, NexusPro Joint Sealant was applied to the cracks and joints throughout the repaired area. NexusPro is designed to create a flexible, durable seal that helps prevent water from entering beneath the concrete, which can contribute to soil erosion and future settlement. By combining PolyLevel’s lifting capabilities with NexusPro’s protective sealing properties, our team was able to restore the pool area into a safer, more visually appealing outdoor space.
