Encapsulating a Damp Crawl Space in Keansburg, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in Keansburg, NJ contacted us at Quality 1st Basement Systems due to persistent moisture issues in their dirt crawl space. Over time, this unwanted moisture had begun causing significant problems, including mold growth, wood rot, and musty odors that were permeating the home’s living spaces. Concerned, the homeowner sought a professional solution to permanently address the damp conditions.
Our System Design Specialist, Joseph conducted a thorough evaluation of the crawl space to identify the sources of moisture and assess the overall condition. The inspection revealed high humidity levels, standing moisture in low spots, and vulnerable crawl space walls. It was clear that a comprehensive encapsulation and insulation strategy was needed to protect the space from further damage and improve energy efficiency.
Solution
To fully address the moisture concerns, our production team installed our CleanSpace Crawl Space vapor barrier. This 20-mil vapor barrier is engineered for superior durability and features an antimicrobial treatment to prevent mold and mildew growth. By sealing the dirt floor and walls, CleanSpace effectively isolates the crawl space from external moisture, ensuring a dry environment. To further enhance insulation and energy efficiency, SilverGlo Crawl Space wall insulation was installed. SilverGlo features graphite-enhanced insulation with a radiant heat barrier, delivering an R-11 rating while directing any residual moisture toward the drainage system. Together, these products created a sealed, energy-efficient crawl space with reduced humidity and minimized risk of mold and wood damage.
