Crawl Space Repair in Cresskill, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in Cresskill, NJ reached out to Quality 1st Basements after noticing persistent dampness and patches of surface mold forming on the insulation in their basement crawl space. Concerned about the potential for long-term moisture damage, they scheduled a free inspection. After evaluating the conditions, one of Quality 1st Basements’ System Design Specialists recommended a comprehensive solution that included SilverGlo insulation, StarPipe drainage, a vent cover, IceGuard protection, and a LawnScape outlet.
Solution
The project began with the removal of the old, moisture-affected insulation. In its place, SilverGlo was installed throughout the crawl space. This insulation helped regulate the temperature of the area and provided a moisture-resistant barrier that would not deteriorate in damp conditions. To address the water intrusion at its source, StarPipe was installed along the perimeter of the crawl space. This system collected groundwater and directed it away from the home, preventing future seepage and reducing the risk of mold growth.
Outside the home, a LawnScape outlet was added to discharge water safely onto the lawn, far enough from the foundation to avoid structural issues. To prepare the system for winter conditions, IceGuard was connected to the discharge line. Its specialized design, including three built-in slits, ensured that water could escape even if the line froze, protecting the system from blockages. Finally, a vent cover was installed over the crawl space entrance, sealing it against humidity, cold air, and debris.
With these improvements in place, the homeowner now enjoys a healthier, cleaner, and more stable crawl space, free from dampness and better protected against future moisture problems.
