Addressing Crawl Space Water Seepage In Boring, MD
Challenge
When a homeowner in Boring, MD noticed a persistent musty odor and damp conditions beneath their home, they soon uncovered a much larger issue, ongoing water intrusion in their crawl space that was threatening the health and safety of their entire home. Concerned about the risks of mold growth and structural deterioration, they contacted Quality 1st for a dynamic and lasting solution. After a detailed inspection was carried out, our crawl space experts developed a custom waterproofing plan tailored to address both the current damage and future protection.
Solution
The first phase of the project focused on controlling and redirecting water. We installed our Drainage Matting System, designed to create a path for water beneath the crawl space liner, channeling it efficiently to our SmartSump Crawl Space Sump Pump. This sump pump is optimized for tight spaces and includes an airtight lid and alarm system to alert the homeowner of any rising water. To ensure year-round performance, even in freezing temperatures, we added our IceGuard Discharge Line, which allows water to safely escape even if the exterior pipes become frozen or blocked. To seal the space and prevent further moisture issues, we installed SilverGlo Insulation Panels along the crawl space walls to provide thermal insulation and resist moisture infiltration. Next, we encapsulated the entire area with our CleanSpace Vapor Barrier System, which locks out ground moisture and transforms the crawl space into a clean, dry environment. Vent Covers were added to block humid outdoor air, and finally, our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to maintain optimal humidity levels and improve air quality throughout the home. With these advanced systems in place, the homeowner now has a fully protected crawl space, dry, energy-efficient, and built to last, thanks to the expertise of Quality 1st.
