Waterproofing a Wet Basement in West Orange, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in West Orange, NJ, was experiencing significant water intrusion in their unfinished basement. During heavy rainfall, water seeped in through the walls and the floor, creating damp patches and threatening the home’s structural integrity. The standing moisture also caused concerns about mold, mildew, and overall indoor air quality. With water entering the basement during storms and existing systems insufficient to handle heavy flow, the homeowner needed a comprehensive waterproofing solution that could prevent future flooding, reduce humidity, and protect the basement from long-term moisture damage
Solution
Our team began by installing our WaterGuard drainage system along the perimeter of the basement floor. This system effectively intercepts water seeping in through walls and floor junctions, guiding it to a central collection point. To remove the collected water, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump, a reliable, high-capacity system with multiple pumps and battery backup to ensure operation even during power outages or extreme weather.
Next, the basement walls were lined with CleanSpace, a durable moisture barrier that stabilizes and protects the walls while improving the overall basement environment. To further improve air quality and maintain optimal humidity, we added a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, which continuously removes excess moisture and prevents mold or mildew formation.
The combined system now ensures that the basement remains dry regardless of rainfall, protecting both the structure and the homeowner’s belongings. The space is safe, functional, and prepared for long-term use, giving the homeowner peace of mind.
