Waterproofing an Apartment Building Garage in Flushing, NY
Challenge
At a large apartment complex in Flushing, NY, property management reached out to Quality 1st after ongoing flooding issues worsened in their underground garage. Every rainstorm left water pooling across the entire floor, threatening long-term damage and creating hazards for vehicles and residents. Even more concerning, the concrete slab at the building’s front entrance was sloped incorrectly, causing rainwater to flow toward, rather than away from the structure.
After receiving the call, our Customer Care Specialist quickly arranged for an on-site inspection. Our System Design Specialist, Frank from our team conducted a full assessment of the garage, the foundation, and the slab drainage issues. It was clear that a comprehensive, durable solution was required.
Solution
To address water management inside the garage, we installed the WaterGuard drainage system, concealed along the interior edges of the garage slab to intercept any incoming water. That water was routed to two sump pump systems—a TripleSafe®, known for its triple-pump protection including a battery backup, and a SuperSump for additional capacity.
Next, our team tackled the issue of the uneven concrete throughout the massive garage. Using our PolyLevel foam injection system, we carefully lifted and re-leveled the entire surface. This clean, efficient method restored stability to the floor and resolved low points where water had been collecting.
The final result was a transformed garage: dry, level, and protected against future flooding. The front slab was also lifted to properly divert rainwater away from the building, improving both function and foundation protection. The property management team was thrilled with the improvement and the long-term reliability our systems offered.
