A resident in South Amboy, New Jersey noticed their basement had puddles, wet spots, and overall water damage. This can happen because of loose soil around the foundation of the home. Over time, this loose soil gets saturated during heavy rainfall and begins to settle. The saturated soil creates hydrostatic pressure against the walls, which pushes water and moisture through. This can have many negative effects such as dust mites, mold, and smelly damp carpets. The homeowner called Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Steve Roldan, provided an inspection of the home. He suggested they install a French drain system, a sump pump system, and a dehumidifier. The foreman installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump System which has three pumps in one sump liner. The third pump is a battery operated pump which will kick in if the power goes out. Next, the foreman installed the WaterGuard Drain System which sits on top of the foundation footing so it stays out of the mud zone. WaterGuard will catch any water and drain it directly to the sump pump system. Then the foreman installed the SaniDry Dehumidifier which circulates the air in the basement in order to keep it dry and keep moisture out. Lastly, the foreman installed the IceGuard which allows the water to escape even if the pipes freeze or become blocked for any reason.
