A homeowner in Nyack, NY, requested help addressing moisture concerns identified after a mold inspection. The basement had block foundation walls showing efflorescence, a white, powdery mineral deposit that can develop when water travels through masonry and evaporates, leaving salts behind. The homeowner was looking for a more comprehensive approach to basement moisture management, including dependable water removal and a way to help limit moisture vapor entering through the foundation walls. The garage also required waterproofing attention, making it important to address the lower-level moisture concerns with a coordinated solution
Solution
Our team at Quality 1st Basement Systems installed WaterGuard along the perimeter to collect groundwater and direct it toward the sump basin. A TripleSafe sump pump system was installed to remove collected water and provide multiple levels of pumping protection. Our team also installed CleanSpace along the block foundation walls to create a durable barrier that helps limit moisture vapor entering the basement. Garage waterproofing was included as part of the project to address the additional area of concern. By combining perimeter drainage, sump pumping, and wall encapsulation, the installation provides several complementary layers of moisture management rather than relying on a single product. The system is designed to help manage groundwater and moisture beneath the home, supporting a more controlled basement environment.
