Custom Waterproofing Solution in Manalapan, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in Manalapan, NJ was experiencing water intrusion in their unfinished basement whenever heavy rains occurred. The basement featured block walls and had developed mold concerns, making moisture control an important priority. The existing Bilco basement door was also old, rusty, and leaking, creating another potential concern around the basement entrance. The homeowner was looking for a more comprehensive solution rather than simply addressing the visible water. The project needed to provide a way to collect and remove groundwater, improve the condition of the basement walls, manage humidity, and replace the aging basement entrance.
Solution
Our team at Quality 1st began by installing WaterGuard around the basement perimeter. WaterGuard is an interior drainage system designed to collect groundwater and provide a dedicated path for it to travel toward the sump pump system. This gives water entering around the perimeter a controlled route instead of allowing it to collect across the basement floor. The drainage system was connected to a new TripleSafe sump pump. TripleSafe is designed with multiple levels of pumping protection, providing additional pumping capacity and backup protection to help remove collected water from the basement. With the drainage and sump system in place, our team addressed the block walls by installing CleanSpace along the basement walls. CleanSpace creates a durable barrier between the foundation walls and the interior basement environment, helping limit moisture from passing through the walls and contributing to a more controlled space. Humidity was another consideration for the basement, so the team installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. Designed specifically for basement environments, the SaniDry Sedona helps control excess humidity and maintain a more consistent environment in the unfinished space. The project also included replacing the old Bilco door. The existing door was rusty and leaking, so it was replaced with a brand-new door to provide an improved and more weather-resistant entrance to the basement. The completed project gave this Manalapan homeowner a comprehensive approach to basement moisture control. WaterGuard provides drainage, TripleSafe provides dedicated pumping protection, CleanSpace helps address moisture along the block walls, and the SaniDry Sedona helps manage humidity. Replacing the old Bilco door also addressed the condition of the basement entrance.
