Custom Waterproofing Solution in Newark, DE
Challenge
A homeowner in Newark, DE was dealing with recurring water in a partially-finished basement despite already having a sump pump. Because the source of the water was uncertain, the solution needed to address moisture around the perimeter rather than simply replacing the existing pump. The basement also presented an additional challenge because portions of the space had already been finished into rooms, meaning the waterproofing work had to be completed around the existing layout. The foundation walls were rough concrete with visible cracks, and several older basement windows had become rusted and leaky, creating additional concerns about water entering the space.
Solution
Foreman Bernie and his team approached the project by creating a dedicated waterproofing system around the entire basement perimeter. The team first installed CleanSpace along the foundation walls to help isolate the basement from moisture and create a cleaner, more controlled environment. WaterGuard was then installed around the entire perimeter of the basement, with the team carefully working through the existing finished rooms to collect water and direct it toward the home's existing sump pump. The old, rusted windows were also removed and replaced with EverLast windows, providing a more durable basement window solution and addressing the leaking windows at the same time. Together, the CleanSpace wall liner, full-perimeter WaterGuard drainage system, existing sump pump, and EverLast windows created a comprehensive approach to managing water in the Newark basement while preserving as much of the existing finished space as possible.
