Waterproofing Solution For a Basement in Chestertown, MD
Challenge
This homeowner had been experiencing a severe water intrusion issue in their unfinished basement. During periods of heavy rain, or after several consecutive days of rain, a visible stream of water would move across the basement floor from the front of the space to the back. The issue was no longer occasional dampness. Water movement through the basement created concern about long-term moisture conditions, usability of the space, and protecting the home moving forward. After inspecting the basement, Chris C. determined the issue required more than simply collecting water at one point. Groundwater needed to be intercepted before reaching the floor, while humidity and wall conditions also needed to be addressed.
Solution
The first step was installing WaterGuard around the basement perimeter. This interior drainage system was designed to collect incoming groundwater and move it directly toward the discharge location. A TripleSafe sump pump system was then installed to provide dependable water removal and multiple levels of pumping protection.
Along one block wall, CarbonArmor reinforcement was installed to provide additional support while maintaining a clean appearance and minimizing disruption to the basement layout. To complete the transformation, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to manage humidity and create a drier overall environment. What was once a basement experiencing active water movement across the floor during storms is now equipped with a complete interior waterproofing and moisture control system. Water interception, reliable pumping, wall reinforcement, and humidity control now work together to help protect the basement long-term.
