Historic Home Waterproofing Project in Wayne, PA
Challenge
This homeowner had recently moved into a historic property in Wayne, PA and discovered signs that water had entered the basement previously. While the basement remained unfinished, the goal was prevention. The homeowner wanted to remediate the issue early and protect the structure before future water intrusion could create larger concerns. The basement's original stone foundation walls introduced additional considerations. Historic foundations often behave differently than modern poured concrete walls and can allow moisture movement over time, making proper drainage especially important.
Our System Design Specialist, Greg completed a full basement evaluation and recommended an interior waterproofing approach designed to manage water at its entry point. The proposed system included our WaterGuard interior drainage system, and two SuperSump systems for dependable water excavation. Rather than attempting to seal water out from the interior surface alone, the design focused on controlling and directing water safely away from the basement.
Solution
Our trusted Foreman, Bernie and his crew completed installation with attention to the unique conditions of the historic basement. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter to intercept water entering through the wall-floor joint. Once captured, collected water is directed into the sump systems. Two SuperSumps were installed to provide efficient water removal capacity and dependable performance. The homeowner now has a waterproofing system designed specifically for the needs of their historic home. Instead of worrying about future basement water intrusion, they now have a solution built to manage moisture and help preserve the space for years to come.
