Basement Waterproofing and Foundation Repair in Old Bridge, NJ
Challenge
In Old Bridge, a homeowner preparing to sell their property was met with a critical obstacle that could impact the entire transaction. During the buyer’s evaluation, significant concerns were raised about the condition of the basement. The space showed clear signs of moisture intrusion, with damp walls creating an uninviting environment, while large cracks in the block foundation walls pointed to deeper structural issues. These problems not only affected the appearance of the basement but also raised red flags about the home’s overall stability and long-term durability. For any potential buyer, visible foundation cracks and moisture issues can quickly become deal-breakers, leading to hesitation, renegotiation, or even a failed sale. Understanding the urgency of the situation, the homeowner needed a solution that would both resolve the underlying issues and restore confidence in the property. They reached out to our team at Quality 1st Basement Systems, where one of our Customer Care Specialists promptly scheduled a detailed inspection. Shortly after, a System Design Specialist from our Sales Team arrived on-site to fully assess the condition of the basement, identify the root causes, and determine the most effective path forward.
Solution
After a thorough evaluation, a comprehensive plan was developed to address both the moisture intrusion and the structural concerns, ensuring the basement would be dry, stable, and ready for inspection by prospective buyers. To begin, our team installed the CleanSpace system along the basement walls. This durable vapor barrier immediately transformed the space by sealing out moisture, improving the overall appearance, and creating a cleaner, brighter environment. By controlling humidity and preventing further dampness, CleanSpace helped eliminate one of the most noticeable issues in the basement. To manage water intrusion at its source, the WaterGuard drainage system was installed along the perimeter of the basement. Positioned just above the footing and beneath the floor surface, this system is designed to capture water entering through the walls and floor joint, directing it safely away before it can reach the basement floor. Unlike traditional drainage methods, WaterGuard is built to resist clogging and provide reliable, long-term performance. The collected water is then routed into our TripleSafe sump pump system, which was installed to provide maximum protection. This system features three levels of defense, including a primary pump for everyday use, a secondary pump for handling higher volumes of water, and a battery backup pump to ensure continued operation even during power outages. Together, these components create a dependable system that protects the basement under all conditions.
Addressing the structural concerns, our team applied the CarbonArmor system to the cracked block walls. These carbon fiber-reinforced straps are bonded directly to the wall using a high-strength epoxy, stabilizing the structure and preventing further movement. This solution provides significant reinforcement without the need for invasive construction, preserving the integrity of the space while restoring confidence in the foundation.
