Waterproofing Solution for a Basement in Drexel Hill, PA
Challenge
In Drexel Hill, homeowners were facing an ongoing and frustrating issue: continuous water intrusion in their basement, even after attempting previous pipe repairs. While those repairs addressed part of the problem, water was still finding its way inside, leaving the space damp and unreliable. Looking for a permanent solution, they contacted our team at Quality 1st Basement Systems for a professional evaluation.
One of our System Design Specialists, Ryan visited the home and conducted a thorough inspection of the basement. Rather than focusing only on the previous repair area, Ryan evaluated the entire foundation to identify all potential entry points. His assessment revealed that water intrusion was not solely related to plumbing, but also due to groundwater seepage entering through the foundation walls and floor joint, a common issue in basements without a proper drainage system.
Solution
To fully resolve the issue, a comprehensive waterproofing system was recommended, centered around two proven solutions: our WaterGuard Interior Drainage System, and the TripleSafe Sump Pump System. Together, these systems create a complete solution that captures, redirects, and removes water before it can reach the basement floor.
Our production team began by carefully preparing the basement perimeter for the installation of the WaterGuard system. A trench was created along the foundation walls, allowing the system to be placed just above the footing, where it can effectively capture incoming water. The WaterGuard system was then installed to intercept water entering through the walls and floor joint, channeling it directly to the sump pump system. Next, the TripleSafe Sump Pump was installed. This advanced system features three levels of protection:
- A primary pump for everyday water removal
- A secondary pump for high-volume situations
- A battery backup pump for protection during power outages
Once installation was complete, the trench was restored with fresh concrete, leaving the system hidden while fully operational.
