Waterproofing a Wet Basement in Freehold, NJ
Challenge
In Freehold, a homeowner who had recently purchased their property began noticing subtle warning signs in the basement that suggested moisture might be present behind the scenes. While the space did not yet show severe water intrusion, the homeowner suspected an issue linked to an aging exterior patio, estimated to be 25 to 30 years old, which appeared to trap rainwater beneath it. Over time, this trapped water was believed to migrate toward the foundation walls, creating the potential for hidden moisture infiltration, elevated humidity levels, and future mold concerns. Wanting to address the problem before it worsened, the homeowner reached out to our team for a professional evaluation.
After scheduling a convenient appointment, one of our System Design Specialists arrived to perform a full inspection of the basement and surrounding foundation conditions. During the assessment, it became clear that while visible flooding was not yet occurring, moisture pressure against the foundation could eventually lead to seepage. Rather than waiting for damage to appear, the homeowner opted for a proactive waterproofing solution designed to intercept water before it could enter the living space. To protect the basement long-term, our team designed a comprehensive waterproofing system combining three proven solutions: our WaterGuard drainage system, TripleSafe sump pump, and CleanSpace vapor barrier system.
Solution
Installation began with the placement of the WaterGuard drainage system along the basement perimeter. Installed on top of the foundation footing and just beneath the basement floor, WaterGuard is engineered to capture water seepage from the walls and floor joint before it can reach the finished portion of the basement. Unlike traditional French drains that sit beside the footing and often clog with mud or debris, WaterGuard’s design keeps it free-flowing while directing collected water efficiently toward the sump pump. Next, our production team installed the TripleSafe sump pump system, providing three layers of protection against water intrusion. The system includes a primary high-capacity pump for everyday water removal, a secondary pump for heavy storms or high water volumes, and a battery backup pump to keep the system running even during power outages. With these built-in redundancies, the homeowner can rely on the system to perform even during the most severe weather conditions. To complete the system, CleanSpace was installed along the basement walls to create an additional barrier against moisture and humidity. This durable, bright white liner helps prevent vapor from entering the basement while also resisting mold and mildew growth on its surface. Beyond moisture control, CleanSpace also improves the appearance of the basement, giving the area a cleaner and more finished look. The result was a fully integrated waterproofing solution designed to address the root cause of the homeowner’s concerns before significant damage could occur.
