Transforming a Wet Basement in Red Bank, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in Red Bank, New Jersey reached out to us after experiencing persistent water problems in their unfinished basement. The issue had been occurring for quite some time, especially during heavy rainstorms. Water was visibly entering through the foundation walls, leaving behind dark stains, mineral deposits, and clear signs of long-term moisture damage. In addition to the physical water intrusion, the basement had developed a strong humid and musty odor, indicating elevated moisture levels and potential mold risk. During our initial inspection, one of our System Design Specialists carefully evaluated the basement’s foundation, wall conditions, and moisture patterns. We determined that groundwater pressure around the home was forcing water through the porous foundation walls and into the basement. Because there was no effective drainage system in place, the water had nowhere to go and continued to spread across the space, contributing to humidity, staining, and air quality concerns.
Solution
To permanently resolve the issue, we designed a complete interior waterproofing system tailored to the home’s needs. The first step was installing WaterGuard, our interior perimeter drainage system. WaterGuard is installed below the basement floor along the foundation walls, where it captures incoming groundwater at the wall-floor joint and redirects it safely to a sump system before it can enter the basement. Next, we installed the TripleSafe sump pump system. This high-performance system includes three pumps in one unit: a primary pump, a secondary pump for heavy water volume, and a battery-powered backup pump to protect the home during power outages. This ensures continuous water removal under all conditions, even during severe storms. To address the damaged and stained walls, we installed CleanSpace wall vapor barrier. CleanSpace creates a sealed, bright, and durable barrier over the foundation walls, preventing moisture from entering the basement air while also dramatically improving the appearance of the space. It helps control humidity, blocks mold growth, and keeps the basement environment clean and dry. Once the system was completed, the basement in Red Bank was fully transformed. What was once a damp, stained, musty space is now a dry, protected, and controlled environment. The homeowner now has peace of mind knowing their basement is permanently waterproofed, healthier, and safeguarded from future water and moisture problems.
