Basement Waterproofing Solution in Scotch Plains, NJ
Challenge
This unfinished basement in Scotch Plains, New Jersey had a history of water intrusion during heavy rain events, a common issue in homes where groundwater builds up around the foundation and finds its way inside through the wall-floor joint. The homeowner was proactive, expressing interest in a french drain and remaining open to expert recommendations to ensure the problem was addressed correctly the first time. During our evaluation, we identified that exterior water pressure was the main contributor and that an interior perimeter drainage system would provide the most effective and least disruptive solution.
Solution
We installed the WaterGuard system, a patented interior french drain designed to sit above the footing rather than in the soil, preventing clogging from mud and debris while efficiently capturing water seepage. Water collected by WaterGuard is directed to the TripleSafe sump system, which features multiple pumps for redundancy and protection during high-volume storms or power outages. This combination ensures consistent, reliable water removal from the basement. Once installed, the system immediately began managing groundwater effectively, transforming the basement into a dry, protected space and giving the homeowner confidence that their foundation is safeguarded against future heavy rains.
