Replacing a Failing Basement Waterproofing System in Newark, DE
Challenge
A homeowner in Newark, DE reached out after dealing with ongoing moisture problems in their unfinished basement. They already had a waterproofing system installed by another contractor, but it wasn’t performing the way they needed. Humidity levels stayed high, musty odors lingered, and during heavy rains they still saw evidence of seepage along the walls and floor joint. The basement felt damp year-round, and the failing system offered little reliability or peace of mind. The homeowner wanted a complete replacement, not a patch-up, and needed a solution that would actually keep the basement dry and healthy long-term. The challenges included addressing wall moisture, preventing floor-level seepage, and installing dependable pumping power in a way that would immediately improve the basement environment.
Solution
Our System Design Specialist, Ryan, performed a full inspection and designed a complete system overhaul. Our Production team began by installing our WaterGuard perimeter drainage system along the basement’s interior footing, ensuring any water entering through wall cracks, porous concrete, or under the slab would be collected before it had a chance to pool. That drainage was tied directly into a new SuperSump sump pump system, giving the homeowner three levels of pumping protection, including battery backup for storms and outages. Since elevated humidity was a major issue, we installed CleanSpace along the basement walls to create a bright, clean vapor barrier that blocks moisture and musty odors from passing through the foundation. To keep the air dry and healthy year-round, we added a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, which continuously filters and dries the air while automatically draining into the waterproofing system. Together, these upgrades replaced the ineffective old system with a reliable, efficient, and fully integrated waterproofing solution that transformed the basement’s environment.
