Waterproofing a Leaky Basement in Wilmington, DE
Challenge
A partially finished basement in Wilmington was experiencing water seepage through the block walls. The homeowners noticed damp spots forming during heavy rains, which threatened the integrity of the finished areas and created the potential for mold growth, musty odors, and long-term damage. With water entering from multiple points and the source of seepage unclear, a comprehensive solution was needed to protect both the basement and the home above.
Solution
Our team implemented a full basement waterproofing system. First, we installed WaterGuard, an interior perimeter drainage system that captures water entering the basement and directs it toward a TripleSafe sump pump system. The TripleSafe provides triple protection, including a primary pump, a secondary high-capacity pump, and a battery backup to ensure the basement stays dry even during storms or power outages. To address moisture penetrating the block walls, we lined the walls with CleanSpace, a durable vapor barrier that seals out dampness, prevents mold, and gives the basement a clean, finished appearance.
By combining perimeter drainage, sump pump protection, and wall encapsulation, the basement is now fully waterproofed. The homeowners can confidently use their partially finished space without worrying about water damage, mold, or dampness, a complete transformation from a vulnerable, wet basement to a secure, dry, and healthy environment.
