Transforming a Wet Basement With Bowing Walls in Somerdale, NJ
Challenge
This homeowner in Somerdale, NJ noticed water coming into their partially finished basement whenever heavy rains occurred. One wall had developed mold and staining from repeated dampness, and the problem only seemed to be getting worse. Beyond the waterproofing concerns, the block foundation walls were showing signs of separation and cracking, with visible bowing in one section. This created a two-fold problem: protecting the home from continued water damage while also addressing the structural risks that came with an unstable wall.
Solution
To stop the water intrusion, we installed our full perimeter WaterGuard drainage system along the basement floor, leading into a newly installed SuperSump pump system. Together, these protect the basement by capturing incoming water and pumping it safely outside. For the structural side of the project, we applied a series of CarbonArmor straps to the bowing block wall. These straps are made from high-strength carbon fiber and adhere tightly to the wall surface, providing permanent stabilization without excavation. With both waterproofing and structural solutions in place, the homeowner now has peace of mind that their basement is safe, dry, and reinforced for the future.
