Challenge

In Clifton, NJ, a homeowner was dealing with a recurring issue: water leaking into the basement every time it rained. The water seeped in through the wall and floor joints, causing not only frustration but growing concerns over potential damage to personal belongings and the home's foundation.

After contacting Quality 1st Basement Systems, the homeowner was scheduled for a free inspection. One of our experienced System Design Specialists, Frank conducted a full evaluation of the basement. The source of the intrusion was confirmed to be at the cove joint, where the walls meet the floor, as well as minor wall seepage. Without a proper drainage or moisture barrier in place, the space was vulnerable to consistent water damage.

Solution

We designed a comprehensive waterproofing solution tailored to the home’s specific conditions. Our proposed system included:

WaterGuard Interior Drainage System: Installed below the basement floor, this system would collect water entering through the walls and floor joint and channel it directly to the sump pump.
SuperSump Pump System: A high-performance sump pump with a 1/3 HP cast-iron Zoeller pump and optional battery backup, designed to quickly and efficiently remove water from the basement.
CleanSpace Wall Liner: A heavy-duty vapor barrier installed along the basement walls to prevent moisture, mold, and mildew from developing inside the home.

Our production team began by carefully removing a section of the basement floor along the interior perimeter. We installed the WaterGuard track, making sure it sloped correctly toward the sump pump location. The SuperSump was placed in a specially dug basin, ensuring maximum efficiency and coverage. Once the drainage components were in place, we poured fresh concrete over the WaterGuard trench for a clean and finished look. Finally, our team secured the CleanSpace liner along the basement walls, effectively sealing out moisture and brightening the room’s appearance.

The basement is now dry, clean, and protected, even during heavy rainstorms. Thanks to the WaterGuard and SuperSump system working in tandem, water intrusion is no longer a concern.
