Transforming a Damp Basement in Matawan, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in Matawan, NJ had experienced water intrusion in their partially finished basement. Though the space hadn’t flooded recently, the homeowner knew it was only a matter of time before heavy rain caused problems again. Wanting to take a proactive approach, they contacted us at Quality 1st Basement Systems to help protect their basement before more serious damage could occur.
Our System Design Specialist, Tim visited the home to perform a full inspection. While signs of water were no longer visible, it was clear from the homeowner’s account and the layout of the space that proper waterproofing measures were needed. The existing basement finish made certain areas more vulnerable, especially where drywall had been previously affected.
Solution
Our team proposed and installed a full waterproofing system designed to prevent future water seepage and manage indoor humidity. This included:
-
WaterGuard Sub-Floor Drainage System: Installed around the interior perimeter to capture and direct any incoming water to the sump pump system.
-
SuperSump Pump System: A powerful and reliable sump pump to handle water collection and discharge efficiently.
-
SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier: A high-performance unit to control moisture and improve air quality in the space year-round.
With the waterproofing complete, our team moved on to refinishing the affected portions of the basement. We installed EverLast Wall Restoration Panels to replace the lower sections of removed drywall and added ThermalDry Tiled Flooring, which is designed specifically for basement environments, resistant to mold, water damage, and cold floors.
