Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Quality 1st Basement Systems Installs a Full Waterproofing System In Mt. Olive, New Jersey
A homeowner in Mt Olive, NJ called Quality 1st Basement Systems, to have a free estimate after experiencing water damage in the basement. There would be puddles of water on the floor on the side of the foundation walls after heavy rain. Although the homeowner did have a sump pump installed, it was useless to have as it did not function anymore. The basement was finished and it worried the homeowner that personal belongings would get damaged if the problem was not fixed. System Design Specialist, Travis Radford, went out to the home to inspect the affected areas. Travis did notice signs of water damage on the walls and a heavy presence of efflorescence. Although efflorescence is not dangerous, it can create moisture problems and cause structural damage in the future. Travis recommended having a full waterproofing system installed. The homeowner also wanted to give the basement a refreshing look, so Travis also recommended to have Everlast Wall panels installed.Senior Foreman Juan Garcia and his team, went out to the home to install a fully waterproofing system. His team first jack hammered through the floor of the foundation wall to allow the WaterGuard French Drain System to be installed. Unlike conventional French drains that are installed outside the foundation or alongside the footing, WaterGuard drainage piping is installed inside the basement and won't clog with silt or plant roots. WaterGuard effectively captures wall and floor seepage before it reaches your basement floor. Water enters the system via inlet holes and flows through the drainage pipe to your sump pump. Juan installed a TripleSafe Sump Pump in one of the rooms and a classic sump pump in another for ultimate protection. With the TripleSafe system, you don't have to worry about high pumping demands that can overwhelm or burn out single-pump systems. And if there's a power outage, the TripleSafe system will keep operating, thanks to the UltraSump battery-powered backup pump. While some of the team members were installing the waterproofing system, Juan and the others were taking down the bottom half of the walls to make room for the EverLast Wall panels. EverLast Basement Wall Panels are NOT like drywall. Drywall with fiberglass insulation supports mold growth, will damage from moisture, and will lose insulation value when wet. They are made from 2 1/2 inch thick rigid foam insulation with 1/2 inch thick cement board cladding. The cement board is finished with an off-white vinyl surface treatment. On top of protecting the wall, it gives it a modern and clean look. After 2 days of installation, Juan tested the sump pump system various times to make sure it was working flawlessly. The homeowner was very pleased with the install as it gave peace of mind that water in the basement was no longer going to be an issue.
