Crawl Space Beam Support in Dunellen, NJ
Challenge
A Dunellen, NJ homeowner had water in his basement and high air moisture in the house. Upon inspection, Quality 1st Basement Systems found water coming from a faulty foundation washing sand into the homeowner’s existing sump pump liner. Moisture from two large crawl spaces was causing the wooden structure to soften and sag. The sagging, cracked beams and girders were structurally unsound. Upstairs, the homeowner had stored fabric rolls, which were overloading the floor and caused sagging up to two inches deep. This was a dangerous problem waiting to get worse, and had to be fixed permanently.
Solution
A WaterGuard full perimeter water drainage system was installed in order to solve the ground water seepage problem. WaterGuard water drainage systems will never clog and will drain water to a sump pump and safely away from the basement. Qualiy 1st Basement Systems installed a TripleSafe sump pump, which is the most technologically advanced sump pump available for homeowners. The TripleSafe sump pump has three pumps and a battery back up. In case of a power outage during a heavy rainstorm, the TripleSafe will run on a battery backup and continue to pump water away from the house. These two products work together will keep the basement safe during all weather conditions.
In order to solve the structural problems, SmartJacks anchored the crawl space beams and brought the entire floor back to an acceptable level. SmartJack anchors are made out of heavy-duty, galvanized steel, which can support 30,000 pounds. This will prevent any floor sagging so that the homeowner can store heavy rolls of fabric without worry. Now this homeowner has a waterproof basement and a safe crawl space that no longer has unsafe supports.
