The Incorrect Method of Basement Waterproofing
Many of the basement waterproofing companies that you will talk to will offer basement sealing. Internal basement sealing involves applying some type of hydraulic cement, rubber or tar to the inside cement walls of your home. The sealant does not allow for water permeation or leaking. Unfortunately the sealant quickly peels off due to the hydrostatic pressure of the water in the soil surrounding your home's foundation.
External sealing works much better. It is much the same process with the the same waterproofing materials but the sealant or epoxy is applied to the outside of your basement wall.
