Crawl space repair & encapsulation specialist

The crawl space is an often ignored part of the home. However, a humid, leaky crawl space can lead to massive problems if left unrepaired and dirty. If you're unsure whether your home has crawl space issues, the warning signs include musty smells, sagging floors, and condensation. The best way to get in front of a crawl space problem is to install a professional-grade sump pump. A crawl space sump pump will eliminate flooding and pooling water, preventing mold and mildew growth.

Another way to help ensure a safer, dryer crawl space is to install a vapor barrier. This energy-efficient solution keeps moisture and bugs out and helps your crawl space become a healthy, dry area. Additionally, a dehumidifier will work with the sump pump and thermal insulation to maintain a humidity-free environment in the crawl space. Our crawl space encapsulation system keeps the area from leaking heat or cold from the house.

Job Stories From Allentown, NJ
Pool Patio Repair in Allentown, NJ

This homeowner in Allentown, New Jersey noticed their pool patio was sinking and becoming unlevel. This can happen from soil erosion underneath the slab. As water runs down through the cracks and joints in the concrete, it washes out the soil underneath. This causes the concrete to become unlevel. If this goes without repair, it could create dangerous tripping hazards and someone could become injured!

The homeowner searched for solutions and came across Quality 1st Basement Systems. We sent our System Design Specialist to provide an inspection and our specialist suggested they use polyurethane foam to lift and level the concrete.

A few days later, our crew arrived to begin using our PolyLevel Injections. PolyLevel is a lightweight and environmentally friendly solution that will not add any weight to the existing soil. PolyLevel has expanding properties that allow the concrete to be brought to a raised position.

Our crew did a final clean up and within 20 minutes, the job was complete. When the homeowner saw the results, they were satisfied with the service of Quality 1st. They did not have to worry about tripping hazards anymore.

Pool Patio Leveling in Allentown, NJ

A pool patio should never consist of unlevel concrete. This homeowner's pool patio in Allentown, New Jersey was beginning to sink. This occurs because the concrete is poured over poorly backfilled soil. Over time, this soil creates voids underneath the slab. If gone unrepaired, this patio could pose a dangerous tripping hazard.

The homeowner made a call to Quality 1st Basement Systems and our customer service representative was able to book them an appointment with our System Design Specialist, Jay Alvarez. Jay provided an inspection of the home and suggested they use polyurethane foam to lift the concrete.

Our foreman, Luis Aguirre, arrived at the site and began the process of using the PolyLevel Injection System. This is completed by drilling small holes into the slab and injecting the foam into the voids underneath. PolyLevel is a lightweight and environmentally friendly solution that will not add weight to the existing soil.

When the job was complete, the homeowner was pleased with their leveled pool patio, and they did not have any other issues with their concrete.

Basement Wall Repair in Hamilton, NJ

This Hamilton, NJ homeowner, discovered their basement walls were developing stair-formed cracks, so she tried to repair them on her own. Unfortunately, the issue was way worse and she needed professional help, so she contacted her trustworthy contactor, Quality 1st Basement Systems. After a quick phone call, we scheduled an appointment for our System Design Specialist, Joe Mancini, to go to the home and provide a quote for the homeowner.

Mike arrived at the home, on time, and inspected the basement walls. He discovered the basement walls were developing cracks, concluding it must be a foundation problem. When soil becomes soft, it expands and pushes against the home's foundation. This created the foundation to crack or bow inwards. Mike presented this to the homeowner and suggested the CarbonArmor Strips would be the perfect solution for her. Our CarbonArmor Strips have immense strength and will keep the basement wall intact.

After the installation, the homeowner did not experience any other issues with her basement walls, resulting in her full satisfaction with Quality 1st Basement Systems.

Foundation Settlement Repair in Hamilton, NJ

A homeowner in Hamilton, NJ noticed that there was something wrong with his home. At first, they noticed that there were small cracks forming on the walls of his home, mostly around door and window frames. Since it was a small crack, the homeowner didn't think that there was anything seriously wrong so they left it alone. A few weeks later, the homeowner noticed that the cracks started to get bigger. They then started to realize that there was something wrong with their home. They called Quality 1st Basements Systems and scheduled an appointment for our design specialist to come and inspect their home. Our Systems Design Specialist arrived, on time, at the home, and the homeowner showed him where the cracks were in the home.

First, our specialist first noticed the uneven door frame, but to get some more in-depth information, he started measuring the home itself. The home was sloping, and when our specialist carefully inspected the home, he noticed that there were gaps between the walls and floors. Lastly, our specialist inspected the basement walls and found that the walls were cracked. Our specialist told the homeowner that the home's foundation needed to be replaced, or the home would suffer serious damages in the future. The homeowner agreed and made another appointment for our specialist and crew to come out and repair the foundation. Within the next few days, our specialist returned to the home, with our crew, and they began to fix the foundation.

Our crew installed Helical Piers, by Supportworks, to help bring back the foundation to its original stage. They first removed the soil in the area which the Helical Pier will be placed. Using hydraulic equipment, our crew screwed the first Helical Pier into the ground. Our crew then added the additional steel sections to help extend the pier to the appropriate capacities, and the foundation bracket is connected to the helical piers and attached to the foundation's footing. Our crew then transferred the weight of the home through the helical piers and onto the new surface. Finally, our crew hid the system using the soil surrounding the installation.

After the foundation has been completely repaired, the entire home was placed back to its original form. Since then, the homeowner did not have any problems and is completely satisfied.

Trip Hazard Eliminated Around Pool Area in Allentown, NJ

Concern was growing with a homeowner from Allentown when he began noticing the gradual sinking of the concrete slabs around his pool area.  In essence, it had become a trip hazard.  One day, when he received a Money Mailer advertisement packet in his mail, he noticed that Quality 1st Basement Systems advertised a process called PolyLEVEL, to lift and level sinking concrete.  He called to schedule a free estimate inspection.

The PolyLEVEL system, a quick fix for sinking concrete slabs, involves the injection of structural grade polymers beneath concrete slabs through small holes.  This process causes lifting and leveling of the area, eliminating the trip hazard.  PolyLEVEL is less costly than replacing the concrete and the environmentally friendly material used in this process is less porous than concrete and will not wash out or deteriorate in the ground.  Additionally, PolyLEVEL cures in about 15 minutes, so the area can be put back into use quickly!

It seems that the homeowner found the fix he was looking for.  Quality 1st Basement Systems completed the work, eliminated the trip hazard, and eliminated concern about the pool walk area.

Insulating Crawl Space Areas for a Homeowner in Allentown, NJ

As a new homeowner, John M. wanted to ensure that the crawl space in his home was insulated properly to stop the cold air from coming into the home.  He searched the internet, found Quality 1st Basement Systems, and requested a free estimate as advertised on the website.  Soon thereafter, John was contacted and an appointment was scheduled to have Mike Jersey, a waterproofing and crawl space specialist, visit his home to provide a thorough crawl space inspection to determine the best solution to meet John’s needs.

In order to accomplish the most effective insulation solution, the goal is to isolate the house from the earth and prevent outside air from entering the crawl space area.  An installation team led by Melvin Cardoza mobilized to John’s home in Allentown.  A CleanSpace liner was installed to further prevent wetness from making its way into the crawl space with TerraBlock durable, padded crawl space insulation beneath.  The walls were prepared with SilverGlo Insulation Panels which keep the cold air out its tiny graphite particles reflect heat back into the crawl space for maximum energy efficiency.  SilverGlo Rim Joist installed around the perimeter of the floor frame adds to the insulation.  The last piece to complete the insulation project was to install vent covers.  The airtight plastic covers seal off the outside air without worry of rust or rot while preventing damp air from making its way into the crawl space.

Quality 1st Basement Systems met John’s needs by efficiently insulating his crawl space areas and additionally created cleaner, neater, drier areas beneath the home.
