If you notice water seeping through the walls or floors of your basement, that could be a sign of hydrostatic pressure. This homeowner in Morristown, New Jersey noticed moisture seeping in through their foundation walls. This happens because the soil around the foundation is loose and becomes saturated during heavy rainfall. Over time, this soil creates hydrostatic pressure which causes water to seep through the walls.
The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems and our customer service representative matched them with our System Design Specialist, Justin Williams. Justin provided an inspection and he suggested they install a vapor barrier system to keep moisture out.
Our foreman arrived at the job site and began the process of installing the CleanSpace Wall Vapor Barrier. This is a durable liner that is thick like a pool liner. The process of installation is completed by removing dirt and debris from the basement, and carefully fitting and installing the liner to the wall with drilled-in fasteners and spikes.
When the job was complete, the basement was protected against moisture. The homeowner did not have any further issues with moisture in their basement.
Matt F. had a damp basement. He didn’t have water in the basement; it was just damp. He tried to eliminate the musty smell that lingered by running two dehumidifiers, but that didn’t work. If fact, Matt said that the two units only made the basement very warm.
Matt F. heard about Quality 1st Basement Systems so he called to get a free estimate and inspection as he really wanted a solution to the basement problems. Basement Specialist Ken Peare met with Matt, inspected his basement, and knew the problem Matt was experiencing: if one dehumidifier didn’t take care of the smell and dampness, using a second would just double the noise and electricity used to run both of them. Ken presented a solution in a SaniDry Basement Air System. It would be the ultra-efficient solution by removing a greater amount of water out of the air while utilizing less energy than the two dehumidifiers Matt was running. The reduction in the humidity would thereafter suspend the growth of mold and mildew (which likely caused the musty smell) and the system would also effectively filter the air of allergens. Matt F. would not need to empty any discharge water catch basins with the SaniDry as it drains automatically.
Matt F. recognized his errors in trying to resolve the basement problems with two dehumidifiers. He opted to get the SaniDry installed for a sure fix – and of course, also, for the affordability, ease of operation, and energy efficiency!
