A homeowner in Sewell, New Jersey saw their concrete patio was sinking and becoming unlevel. This happens because concrete is often poured over poorly compacted soil. Over time, this soil settles and creates voids underneath, which causes the slab to shift. This can be dangerous because a friend or family member could trip and injure themselves.
The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Chris Bowe, was able to provide an inspection of the home and help them find a solution. Upon his inspection, Chris noticed that the concrete patio was shifting and unlevel. He suggested a polyurethane foam to lift and level the slab.
Our foreman arrived on the site and began the process of using the PolyLevel Injection System. This process is done by drilling small, penny-sized holes into the slab and injecting the polyurethane foam into the voids underneath. This process can be done within a day and does not require the use of heavy equipment.
PolyLevel is a lightweight, environmentally friendly, and water-proof solution that will not wash out, or will not add any weight to the existing soil. The polyurethane has expanding properties that allow for an accurate lift and leveling of the slab.
When the job was complete, the homeowner was pleased with the outcome. They were able to safely walk on their concrete patio without the concern of tripping or injuries.
