Clifton's Trusted Basement Waterproofing and Foundation Repair Contractor

A homeowner in Clifton, New Jersey noticed their driveway patio was becoming unlevel and sinking. This happens because of the poorly compacted soil around the foundation. Over time, this soil settles and creates voids underneath the concrete slab. This can be a dangerous safety hazard because a friend or family member could trip and injure themselves.

The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist was able to provide an inspection and help them find a solution to this issue. Upon his inspection, the system design specialist noticed how unlevel the concrete was and he suggested a polyurethane foam to lift and level the slab.

Out foreman used the PolyLevel Injection System to be injected underneath the concrete. This is done by drilling small penny-sized holes into the slab and injecting the foam into the voids. This process can be done within a day and does not require the use of heavy equipment. The polyurethane foam has expanding properties that allow for an accurate lift and leveling of the slab. PolyLevel is a lightweight, waterproof, environmentally friendly solution that will not wash out and will not add weight to the existing soil.

When the job was complete, the homeowner was satisfied with the outcome. They were able to safely walk on the driveway without the concern of tripping or hurting themselves.

A resident in Clifton, New Jersey saw their concrete walkway was sinking and settling. This can be a danger because it can cause tripping hazards and the pooling of water. Concrete shifts and becomes unlevel when the backfilled soil under the concrete settles over time and creates a void under the concrete. Another common cause is the erosion of soil under the slab. As water runs down through the cracks in the concrete, it washes the soil out as it passes through.

The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems after seeing our ad on Instagram. Our System Design Specialist, Jonathan Seminerio, helped the homeowner find a plan to fix this issue. He suggested they use polyurethane foam to fill the voids under the concrete.

Our foreman, Victor Leon, used the PolyLevel Injection System under the concrete. This is done by drilling small, penny-sized holes into the concrete slab, and injecting the polyurethane foam into the voids. The foam has expanding properties that allow for an accurate lift and level of the slab. The polyurethane foam is environmentally friendly and does not require any disruption to the existing concrete. 

Agnus S. from Clifton, NJ was hoping to eliminate dampness and water problems in her crawlspace.  She scheduled an appointment to have Waterproofing Specialist Dan McNally out to inspect the problem area and develop a plan for resolving the wetness beneath the home.  The next step was to put the plan into action!

Project Manager Victor Leon brought his crew to Agnus’s property and began the remediation process of waterproofing the crawl space by installing SmartPipe drainage pipe around the perimeter, designed to collect water from foundation walls and floors of dirt crawl spaces. CleanSpace Drainage Matting was installed on the floor to eliminate sitting water and direct it to the drainage system. The SuperSump would pump the water out and away from the home and disperse it onto the lawn through the LawnScape discharge outlet.  IceGuard was included along the discharge route for colder months, to prevent flooding if ice begins to block the way.  

Additionally, the waterproofing plan included TerraBlock padded insulation to provide additional moisture protection while boosting energy efficiency.  SilverGlo Insulation Panels would further the energy efficiency by reflecting heat back into the crawl space. Lastly, a CleanSpace liner was installed to complete the encapsulation by further preventing vapor from making its way into the crawl space.

By the end of the project, Agnus S. found her crawl space transformed from a dark, dank, dirt-floor space beneath her home to a cleaner, brighter, drier area isolated from the earth.  She would also experience a warmer main level of her home but with energy-cost savings!
