A homeowner in Elizabeth, New Jersey noticed their concrete patio was sinking and becoming unlevel. This occurs because of the poorly compacted soil around the foundation. Over time, this soil settles and creates voids underneath, causing the concrete to sink and shift. This can be a dangerous safety hazard because a friend or family member could trip and hurt themselves.
The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist provided an inspection and helped them find a solution to fix this issue. Upon his inspection, the system design specialist noticed how unlevel the concrete patio was and suggested they use polyurethane foam to lift the slab.
Our foreman, Sean Johnson, used the PolyLevel Injection System to be injected under the slab. This process is done by drilling tiny holes in the concrete and injecting the polyurethane foam into the voids under the slab. This process can be done within a day and does not require the use of heavy material. PolyLevel is a lightweight, environmentally friendly, and waterproof solution that will not wash out and will not add weight to the existing soil.
When the job was complete, the homeowner was happy with the outcome. They were able to safely walk on their patio without the concern of tripping and hurting themselves.
